How beautiful the day has been.  The weather is really great and comfortable.  Yesterday I went home for lunch and ate a sandwich.  Our five month old dog loves to play.  I had twenty minutes left of lunch time and so I thought I'd play outside with the dog.  I was sure that the dog would want some exercise, but instead when we got out side, she ran to her kennel and got her raw hide chew and come to where I was and laid down in the grass to have a chew.  I thought, that's a good idea, so I went back into the house and got a blanket and spread it on the ground and enjoyed the breeze and the comfort of the out doors for the next seventeen minutes.

The simple things of life are great, just laying on a blanket enjoying the out doors.  But life is not always that simple.  In Matthew chapter 14, you find people, who were not having a seventeen minute break, laying out in the open air enjoying the out doors.  Instead, they are either sick or disabled in some way.  On this particular day, Jesus is in the area and passing by looks out on this large group of people and He has compassion on them.  He goes to where they are and the Bible records that as the people come to Him, "all who touched Him were healed.

I do not know what your day is like at this moment, but if it's one of laying on a blanket enjoying the out doors, then great and praise the Lord.  But if it's the other one, not well or just not having that great of a day, as Jesus passes by your way, just take a moment and reach out to Him, touch Him and by faith let Him bring healing to your body and soul.  Then, if you have at least seventeen minutes, take time to do something that really feels good.  Who knows, a few minutes laying on a blanket in the shade of a big old tree enjoying the day that the Lord has made, may be just what you need, to brighten up your day.

Let It Snow - 1/28/10 PDF Print E-mail

 

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.  That’s the talk this week; will it really be as bad as they predict?
Well, come Thursday and Friday morning we will know for sure.
But what about till then some may ask.  Well, from my one trip to the grocery store, I’m sure most people will have plenty of food and snacks to eat.  The store owners love when that happens I’m sure and I am glad we have stores with plenty of food.  But ya know what; we can be fooled by that because I was told by one person, that at noon Wednesday, the shelves were bare where the water is usually found, and the hamburger meat and some other things.
But ya know what I’ve found in life to be so true? 
That when our trust and faith is in Jesus Christ, His shelf is never bare, because He provides for our every need.
As you go through the New Testament, Luke for example, chapter after chapter you find these words, “Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God.”  In fact, in Luke chapter 5 verse 26 we find these words:  “Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God.  They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.”  What things were they talking about? 
People healed, and sins forgiven.
Praise God for all the good things he does, in our lives every day.

Prayer.  When we think about prayer, so often the word time comes to our mind.  I just do not have time to stop and read and pray everyday.  I barely have time to do what I have to take care of each day.  We are busy people.  But God never intended for us to be so busy, that we do not have time for Him.  And I know we’ve all been caught out in the rain before.  I know we are people on the run,

but we also need to spend time alone with our Lord.
We are told in Ephesians 3:17-19  And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
 
You see, if we do not spend time in prayer with our heavenly Father, we will never know  the “measure of all the fullness of God.”  We will forever want to know Him, but unless we spend time with Him, we will only know about Him.
I encourage everyone, to find a prayer partner.  Someone you can get together with each week and share and pray together for each other, but also, set aside a time each day, to talk with God and to read His Word.  His son Jesus died, so that we may have the Word to read, and an open channel to God the father.
I pray this week will be a week filled with joy and that today you will be able to say to all who ask, that today is one terrific day.
After all, “this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

I love to watch our children on Sunday morning.  They will be quick to tell you what is going on in their lives.  Tell of how school is going and the new things they learn.  In Sunday school on the way to the worship service, some will even tell you the memory verse they learned in the past hour.  I remember when I could do that.  I do well to remember at times what I did twenty minutes ago. 
But listening -- today that’s where it’s at.  The children love to have you listen to them.  That’s why they are so quick to tell you what’s on their mind. So often, listening is one thing God has trouble getting us to do, to listen to Him.
This past Sunday, the girls and boys that had been attending the purity classes on Sunday evening for the past few months came forward to receive their certificates.  They have made a commitment to God to remain pure not only to God but to the one God in mind for them to spend their lives with when that time comes.  They have listened and understand the importance of purity. I was very proud of each one of them.  We as a church need to now to our part, and pray and encourage them daily.   God is blessing every time we meet together. 
Sunday evening Pastor Ryan spoke.  At the end of the message, he allowed a time for people to share.  Different ones shared how God is answering pray and doing wonderful things in their lives. So I say with everyone else, “Praise God for great things He has done and is doing.”
This coming Sunday we will look at the life of Joseph once again.  I hope you plan to be with us as we worship together in song and in the word.

Are you ready for some football?

It's that time of the year.  I hate to see summer and the warm weather go, but I love the fall as well.  The sports -- but more than that the family holidays that are soon to be here.

 

I love watching the excitement of the children when we are at church, along with the teens.  They are young and remind the rest of us that we were like that at one time.  Of course -- we need to stay young at heart and have the joy of the Lord all over us!

 

I thank the Lord for the joy and excitement of our services on Sunday.  We have been blessed by His presence.  Looking over the months to come and the things we already have on our calendar, there are great days of excitement coming up.

 

On Sunday the 13th, we will be recognizing Grandparents for Grandparents Day and our children are going to have their recognition time for those who have gone through our purity classes on Sunday night.  Beckie and those working with our children have done a great job!  I am looking forward to the awards ceremony and the excitement of the kids.


So, not only am I ready for some football, but more than that, I am ready and looking forward to what God is doing and going to do in the days to come.

 

Every Sunday is a new day and God is doing great things!
